Now, there are plenty of browsers like Chrome that are more lightweight. And these days, many might tell you that Chrome is no longer as fast or as lightweight as it used to be. There have been privacy issues surrounding the Google browser. Unfortunately, despite many of Chrome’s fantastic features, it still isn’t perfect. Chrome was an innovator, ringing in the era of individual tabs being individual processes, so you only needed to kill one tab if it became unresponsive. Because it’s a Google product, Chrome has many dedicated engineers assigned to its continuous development. There are a few good reasons Chrome became many people’s go-to browser. It only has cornered 19.37% of the global browser market.
As a point of comparison, the next most popular browser, and arguably the best Google Chrome alternative for Mac users, is Apple’s Safari.
Although it suffered a very slight decline between 20, these days, Chrome still has over 63.5% market share across the globe (and all device types). Since Google Chrome became king of the browsers, it’s been really hard to shake its hold on the world’s population.
